TOTAL:1 hour,30 min. Serve 30 min. after baking
SEVERS: 6-8
INGREDIENTS
1/2 lb butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
3 cups flour
1/2 t salt
2 t baking powder
1 1/2 t vanilla
1 cup milk
2/3 cup Hershey syrup
powdered sugar
1.Cream together butter/margarine and sugar
2.Add eggs,ONE AT A TIME
3. Sift together the flour,salt,and baking powder.
4.Mix together the vanilla and the milk.
5.Add the dry ingredients and the milk/vanilla mixture alternately to the margarine/sugar/egg mixture,ending with the dry.
6.Put 2/3 of the mixture in a cake pan.
7.Mix Hershey syrup and remaining 1/3 of the batter.
8.Pour syrup mixture on top of cake batter.
9.DO NOT MIX
10.Bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 min.
11.Let cool for 30 min.
12.Turn out of pan
13.(optional)can dust with powdered sugar or glaze
GLAZE 1.Melt 2 squares of semisweet chocolate,1 Tablespoon butter,a dash of powdered sugar.
2.drizzle over top of cake.
Gail's MEMORY: Potato pancakes were definitely one of my favorite foods, especially at Hanuka. But…I lived upstairs from my grandparents until I was 10 years old, and whenever I didn't like something my mother was making for dinner, I’d go downstairs and ask my Grandpa if he would make potato pancakes for me. He always did! They were great! He also made me Hershey syrup cake for dessert.
